Check out this post about the emerging church. It is quite hysterical and awfully true.
After reading the post I must admit that I fit the ‘mold’ in the majority of areas except
1. I’m married
2. I own a Dell (but desire a Powerbook G4)
3. I’m not a fan of David Crowder Band
4. As of today I don’t have an Ipod (but i will after Christmas)
5. I don’t speak of Calvin negatively and I still like the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’
6. No Prius yet, but that is simply because I just bought a new car two years ago
7. No tattoos…and I don’t desire to have any.

why is d.a. carson on the negative list? has he printed something against the emergent church, or is it that he is from trinity?
ah yes, I take back my question. After doing a little research, it is very obvious why Carson is on the list. What are your personal thoughts on the book that he wrote? Have you had a chance to read it?
Yeah, I did read the book, right when it came out in fact. At first I was incredibly excited about it because criticism is always needed, especially when something is being birthed and D.A. Carson is a really smart individual. However, his approach to his criticism really offended me. It wasn’t conversational, it was accusatory. It was biased and he badly misinterpreted alot of comments issued by the leaders of the movement. He also attacked, brutally, Brian McLaren and lesser so the late Stan Grenz. He essentially said that Brian was not a christian and was doing more harm to the church then good. And to me, what makes his criticism completely invalid is that he has never met the man, nor had any correspondance with him. Those are my two cents I suppose.
I can bring the book back for Christmas is you wish?

I must be Emergelical, I only qualify in about half the categories. It’s really hard to fully embrace the L*b*r*l label, or any other particular political label.
